History of faculty
Today, the study of foreign languages has become an extremely important direction of state policy in the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the Decree of the President Sh.M.Mirziyoyev “On measures to raise to a qualitatively new level of activities to popularize the study of foreign languages in the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated to May 19, 2021, in educational institutions of the Republic, special attention is paid to improving the teaching of foreign languages as the most priority direction of educational policy in the country.
At the present day the following departments function at the faculty:

The Russian Language and Literature,
The German Language and Literature,
Theory and Practice of Translation,
Interfaculty Department of Foreign Languages.

120 professors-teachers teach students at the faculty.
From teachers Dj.Kurbanbaev, J.Seytjanov, R.Elmuratov, Z.Khudaybergenova, Yu.Mamutova improved their qualifications in Great Britain, L.Khvan, I.Khoshmuratova, A.Bektursinova in Russia, A.Djumamuratov, D.Berdimuratov, A.Mambetniyazova, G.Babaeva improved their qualifications in higher educational institutions in Germany.
Among the gifted students in 2020, N.Ibragimova became the laureate of the Zulfiya State Prize, G.Keulimjaeva, G.Koblanova became the owners of the State Scholarship named after Navoyi, A.Abipova, D.Jaksylikova – the State Scholarship named after Berdakh. D.Jumamuratov won the DAAD summer course scholarship competition and was trained in Dusseldorf, Germany for a period of 1 month, U.Bazarbayev was trained in the Japanese language courses at Hokkaido University in Japan, N.Ibragimova, A.Temirbaeva, S.Abdikarimova, A.Sarsenbaeva, G.Keulimjaeva participated in the conference held in Kazan in Russia.
The faculty has created all the opportunities for young people, including foreign students, to gain in-depth knowledge so that they become specialists in demand in their profession in the future.
Along with the acquisition of knowledge by students in the process of educational and scientific activities, the faculty also supports gifted youth engaged in creative activities.
Students of our faculty are also trained by specialists from the USA, Germany, South Korea, and Russia.
The clubs and circles, such as “English Speaking club”, “Scientific club”, “Reading Club”, “Young language of words”, “Intransworld”, “Willkommen ins Deutsch!” functionate at the faculty, which help to develop the communicative competence of students in foreign languages.
The faculty has the opportunity for students to choose to study German, Korean, Japanese and Chinese as a foreign language.
